Weekend Project, Tuesday Update: Windows Media Center

By Nick Hodge | November 13, 2007

Update from the Weekend Project.

Some more bits from AusPC Market arrived. We now have audio cable, correct short VGA cable and a new dual channel Hauppauge PCI based Digital TV receiver. Oh, and I applied the thermal grease to the top of the CPU.

A few little cables for internal wiring ease, and the machine is rocking. Even the blue blinkenlights work.

TV Cat is happy.

Just getting a blue screen and audio only on HD stations. The software says "does not come with MPEG decoder"

More research needed to determine what I need to add/change to get HD stations working.

I got one of their cards and it does all of the formats (analog, digital, HD and even Input). In fact was playing PES 6 soccer on my Playstation through it last night (must record some of it one day just for kicks).

I use Media Center with it. Nick do you know if Media Center does line in? I use the Hauppauge software at present!

Found my HD issue: it seems that the screen needs to be resized (alt-enter) when on the channel.

    Also, this Knowledge Base:

Working like a treat. Recording and everything.

    Next step: EPG
